The Uva region in the east of Sri Lanka (Ceylon) is renowned as one of the country’s premier tea-growing areas. Grown at an altitude of approximately 1,220 m on the century-old Uva Highlands Estate (est. 1909), this tea is prized for its flavour and strength, and carries the hallmark ‘broken orange pekoe’ (BOP) grade—medium-sized, broken leaves.

Most of the tea cultivated at the Uva Highlands Estate originates from old Chinese and Assam seedling stock. The estate’s exceptional seasonal flavours are uniquely influenced by the Katchchan trade winds—dry, cool air currents that flow from the deserts of North India across the Eastern Highlands of Sri Lanka.
