Rooibos
Rooibos (“Roy-boss”), also commonly known as Red Bush, is a native South African shrub (Aspalathus Linearis) with small needle-like leaves which produce a smooth sweet fruity infusion.
Green refers to unfermented rooibos, while red refers to fermented, which gives a slightly dry caramel taste.
Rooibos appears to display anti-viral properties & is hailed by generations of South Africans for its medicinal qualities.
Containing particularly high levels of antioxidants, similar to green tea, the main advantage of rooibos relative to other teas is its low tannin count & complete lack of caffeine. This provides a healthy drink that tastes smooth & will not become bitter even after brewing for long periods.
Longer brewing allows you to enjoy the benefits of higher concentrations of antioxidants per serving.
Rooibos is a great tasting alternative, suitable even for very young children.
